The project at Lepe Beach involved the repair and reconstruction of a sheet-piled base wall and concrete wave wall. The site had suffered damage to a section of the bay, which required extensive works to restore the wave wall and surrounding structures. We implemented a carefully coordinated plan to remove and replace damaged materials, ensure proper compaction, and fortify the area with robust engineering solutions designed to withstand future tidal events.
Sheet-Piled Base Wall with Concrete Cap

Restoring the Base Wall: The base wall, made of sheet piling with a concrete cap, forms the foundation of the coastal defense. This wall plays a key role in holding back the sea and protecting the bay from erosion. The integrity of the wall was checked and reinforced during the repair process to ensure long-lasting stability.
Concrete Wave Wall with Gravel & Interlocking Bricks

Wave Wall Construction: The top of the structure was capped with a concrete wave wall, filled with gravel and capped with interlocking bricks. These bricks not only provide aesthetic value but also help absorb the impact of the waves and distribute the forces across the structure.
Damage Assessment & Repair

Damage Resolution: A section of the bay had suffered significant damage, requiring full repair. We removed all the interlocking bricks from the affected area to access the damaged sub-base and began the process of re-leveling and compacting the material.

Replacement of Washed-Away Material: The 6N material that had been washed away was replaced, ensuring the structural integrity of the base layer.
Terram & Gravel Filter Layer Installation

Base for Gravel Filter Layer: To ensure proper drainage and prevent future erosion, we laid down Terram geotextile fabric as the base for the gravel filter layer. This provides a solid foundation and supports the long-term durability of the structure.
Reinstallation of Interlocking Bricks & Concrete Filling

Brick Reinstallation: The interlocking bricks were relayed, and any damaged or missing bricks were replaced. We then filled the joints with in-situ concrete, providing additional security and stability to the structure.
