“Sometimes crossing the paths, can change your whole direction!”
The existing pathway and crossing at Cookham Road were in poor condition, with uneven surfaces that posed risks of injury to pedestrians and cyclists. Our task was to transform the area into a safer, more functional space by constructing a new shared cycle and pedestrian footway, improving the overall accessibility and safety for all users.
New Shared Cycle & Pedestrian Footway
-
Construction of a New Footway: We created a shared cycle and pedestrian footway to offer a smooth and safe route for both pedestrians and cyclists. This upgrade improved the overall flow and accessibility, creating a pedestrian-friendly path that encourages safer use of the route.
Upgraded Cycle Facilities & Pedestrian Crossing
-
Improved Cycle Facilities: We addressed and upgraded the substandard cycle facilities, ensuring that cyclists had a dedicated, safe space to travel. The new design ensures a more efficient and safer cycling experience.
-
Upgraded Pedestrian Crossing: The pedestrian crossing was also upgraded to meet modern safety standards, ensuring safe passage for all pedestrians.
Bollard Adjustments
-
Bollard Realignment: The existing bollards were adjusted to the new service level, ensuring that the infrastructure was properly aligned with the newly constructed footway. This adjustment not only improves functionality but also minimizes any potential obstacles or hazards.
By addressing critical safety concerns and enhancing pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, this improvement scheme has transformed a previously hazardous area into a much safer, more user-friendly environment. The new shared footway and upgraded facilities offer a significant improvement to the public, providing a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists alike, while also improving the overall appearance of the area.
