The scheme comprised the renewal of approximately 130m of carrier drain and gullies down the eastbound edge of Winchester Road in Chandlers Ford between Bodycoats Road and Kings Road.
The existing drainage, although still transmitting stormwater, was subject to a CCTV survey some 18 months prior and found to have serious joint dislocation and invasive tree root damage so the decision was taken to replace the drain run.
The work-included construction of a new carrier drain within the carriageway (130m) along with replacement gullies for 2 new gully catch pits and replacement of a feeder gully, connecting pipe from the westbound edge of the carriageway.
All works were undertaken using temporary two-way lights with 24 hour operation.
