“Castles in the sky, need foundations on the ground!”

This project involved replacing the riven Yorkstone and cobblestone areas with sawn Yorkstone paving to improve pedestrian access.

As part of the project, the carriageway width was reduced, and granite block paving installed. This was laid flush with the footways and marked with tactile paving units for guidance.

The northern footway has been refurbished through jet washing, relaying, and repointing as necessary.
Sections of the existing paving were also replaced with sawn Yorkstone.

In addition, a raised granite block paving table has been installed, along with stone mastic asphalt surfacing.

A requirement for relocating flagpole sockets and installation of a Christmas tree fixing chamber to fit within the new footway limits were also met.
The street furniture was also consolidated for better organization and improved style.

In accordance with new traffic regulations, removable HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation) bollards have been installed, and the existing one-way traffic system has been removed.
